A Short Message by Pastor Ed Taylor of CCA "Comfort & Ease"

Comfort & Ease
Jeremiah 48:11 (NKJV) "Moab has been at ease from his youth; He has settled on his dregs, And has not been emptied from vessel to vessel, Nor has he gone into captivity. Therefore his taste remained in him, And his scent has not changed."

Have you noticed how easy it is to settle down into a place of personal comfort and ease? There is that tendency to seek out places where the waters are calm and the wind blows softly.

What does that look like spiritually? Well, there isn't any gross sin your life. Your prayer life is regular. Your time in the Word isn't increasing, but it's not decreasing either. You're not in any known rebellion against God. I mean, if you were interviewed you would say that you love Jesus and enjoy living for Him. But something is missing. You're not really wanting to go any farther, or step out in faith, or rock the boat. You're fine just the way you are. There is a word for that: complacency.

Literally, complacency is defined as, "showing smug or uncritical satisfaction with oneself or one's achievements."

As Christians, living in a blessed country, it's just too easy to get lazy spiritually and settle into this spiritual 'bless me Lord' coasting mode!

Ask God to stir you up today away from complacency and into a desire to grow like crazy. Time is short.

In Love,
Pastor Ed
